We look forward to seeing you under the tent on June 2nd!

Raise a Paddle

We believe that you often have to experience it to learn it. At North Yarmouth Academy, we go beyond. Beyond the basics, beyond expectations, and beyond the classroom to provide students with hands-on experiences and reflection to better connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

Experiential learning opportunities exist in a variety of forms at NYA, including community service, Kauffmann Program offerings, Innovation Lab, theatrical and musical performances, senior speeches, overnight class trips, field trips, visits with authors, explorers, scientists, artists, surgeons, firefighters, engineers, and many more.

When a student’s education is enhanced with opportunities to study and learn beyond the classroom, they gain:

  • A better understanding of course material
  • A broader view of the world and an appreciation of community
  • Insight into their own skills, interests, passions, and values
  • Opportunities to collaborate with diverse organizations and people
  • Self-confidence and leadership skills
  • Opportunities to make decisions and be accountable for results
  • Deeper connections among classmates and faculty
  • Fun!

NYA’s small class sizes, dedicated and nimble faculty, and strategic approach to experiences beyond the classroom for toddlers through grade 12 ensure every student can fully benefit from a range of hands-on experiences.

When you raise a paddle at the Soirée, you will help students become more engaged and excited about learning and ensure NYA faculty have the resources needed to add a variety of experiential activities to their curriculum.

Thank you!
